Kitten Season Is Here
Warmer weather means more kittens are about to be born in our community. They are adorable, but kitten season also brings heartbreak, overcrowding, and more tiny lives than shelters, rescues, and fosters can safely support. The kindest thing we can do is prevent suffering before it starts.
A huge thank you
Thank you to every person who spayed and neutered pets this past year, and thank you to the amazing people doing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) for community cats. Your effort matters more than you know.
Every cat fixed means fewer kittens born into danger, hunger, illness, and uncertainty. There simply are not enough hands to care for all the kittens who will be born during kitten season. Prevention is compassion in action.
Cats around your home or work?
If you see cats living around your house, neighborhood, job site, or business, you can help in a truly meaningful way by learning how to TNR. Being kind does not always mean bringing cats inside. Sometimes the kindest choice is helping stop the cycle of endless litters.
Learning humane trapping, getting cats fixed, vaccinating them, and returning them to their familiar territory helps protect both cats and the community.
Donβt kit-nap the kittens
If you find very young kittens outside, please do not rush to pick them up. Mom is usually nearby, but she may hide when people are close.
Stepping in too quickly can separate kittens from the very care they need most. Their mother provides warmth, food, cleaning, and protection that humans simply cannot replace as easily.
What to do instead
- Step away and give mom a chance to return.
- Watch quietly from a distance instead of hovering nearby.
- If the kittens appear sick, injured, cold, or in immediate danger, reach out for guidance before moving them.
- Use local kitten and TNR resources to decide the safest next step.

Why kitten season is hard
Kittens arrive faster than rescue groups, shelters, and foster homes can keep up. Even well-meaning people can become overwhelmed.
Why TNR matters
TNR is the humane way to reduce future litters, improve quality of life for community cats, and stop the cycle from repeating.
How you can help
Spay and neuter pets, learn TNR, leave nursing kittens with mom when safe, and share trusted resources with others.
